Weighs: 25.5 lbs.
Length: 32 in.
Status: Lil Monkey!
Firsts:
Cooper is starting to figure out how to climb up on things in order to get what he wants. He climbs up on chairs, boxes, the bottom stove handle (time to cook on the back burner), and drawers. He has only had one spill so far when he climbed up on the back of a chair and the chair toppled over. He learned quickly not to do that. : (
Cooper uses the word "more" for everything. If he wants more food, wants to repeat an activity, or wants our attention he will grab our hand, lead us to where he wants to go, point, and say, "More". It sounds more like, "mowa". : )
Responds to questions with a "ya" or "no". If he's really excited about something or if we guess what he is trying to say he will nod and say, "YA, YA, YA"!
Cooper babbles as if we are having a full conversation. The only thing we understand is "Mom" and "Dad" usually. He tells us all about everything he sees in his own language. His babbling is so cute!
Cooper is getting better at using utensils when he eats (he favors his left hand).
First trip to the zoo with his cousins- Cooper's favorite animals to watch were the Apes, monkeys and giraffes.
He is starting to make animal sounds. It is the same sound for all the animals. It kind of sounds like a dog whining when it's hurt. : )
Stacks blocks and his stackable cups- With a little help he can put the cups inside each other according to size.
Cooper likes to go up and down stairs like we do. He is getting really good at going up the stairs if he has the wall for support but going down he needs a hand from mom or dad.
Starting to get the concept of sharing. He likes to share his food and feed us like we feed him. He will look like he is going to give a toy to another kid and when they go to take it he will take it back.
He is comprehending a lot more. It's still surprising when he responds to what we say. He responds to things like, "Let's go outside/inside", "Go get your shoes", "Stay by mom/dad", "Do you want a banana", "Do you want more" etc.
Makes noises for his cars and trucks.
Cooper just got his first passport in preparation for our trip next summer to visit Erlend and Stefan!
Favorites:
He loves this little hamster that moves around on the floor, makes animal noises and turns randomly. Cooper must think it is real because he doesn't like when it touches him. Occasionally the hamster will touch his foot and the look on his face is hilarious. His smile goes away, his eyes go wide and he usually comes to one of us for help.
Bananas for breakfast- Every morning we will say, "Do you want a banana for breakfast"? He will stop everything and say, "ya" with a big grin on his face. He will go to where we store the bananas and reach for the bananas.
Chasing bugs- He likes to chase ants and spiders around and try to catch them. He succeeds occasionally to the insects demise.
The lawn mower and all other lawn care devices. This kid is all boy!
The little rides they have in front of all the stores- They are everywhere no matter which door you go in! They look so lame but there is a reason the stores put them right in the front of their store. Cooper looks out for those and will point and say "More" so occasionally we will let him do the ride.
He likes to pull things behind him. He especially loves the animals trains from Jane and the duck Stefan gave him.
Helping mom sew- We have been making alphabet beanbags and they are simple enough Cooper can help. He gets to push the buttons while mom pushes the material through.
The Cooper Bear he got for Christmas. Now that he knows his name is Cooper he especially loves Cooper Bear. Very often he will bring us the Cooper bear so we cuddle up and he will hug the bear while we read the story.
Mike gave Cooper a little fishing pole and for days Cooper would not let go of it! He bathed with it, rode in the car with it, ate with it and got dressed with it (that was tricky).
Picking cherry tomatoes from the vine and eating them. Cooper won't eat tomatoes any other way.
His new slide in the backyard
Riding on dad's shoulders
Turning the lights on and off
The Tree House Museum- This is the cutest children's museum here in Ogden. Everything is interactive and literacy based and it's good for all kids as soon as they can walk. We try to go every Friday and Cooper loves it! His favorite exhibits are the music room, train room, farm room and lego tables.
Hearing the doorbell ring or when someone knocks. He always stops everything and makes a mad dash to the door.
Memorable Moments:
The other day we were looking at the lawn mower and teaching Cooper the parts he can and can't touch. We would wave our hands over the parts he couldn't touch and say, "No, No". Then we would touch the parts he could touch and say, "Yes, Yes". He watched us and when we were finished he copied our actions with his cute baby babble and explained back to us the parts he could and could not touch. He is so smart and he has really good self control!
We have a stuffed elephant that winds up and sings the tune to "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". The other day I was singing the words with the music and would cock my head to one side as I sang to him. Any time Cooper wants to play the song he will bring me the elephant, cock his head to one side and hum a really high tune. It is so sweet.
We took Cooper to nursery for the first time at church just to see how he would and he did great until we went to check on him before the third hour. Just as we were peeking our heads in he saw us and lost it. We missed him anyway and still like having him with us during church so we won't take him again until 18 months.
Things that Make Cooper Cry:
When he gets his feelings hurt
When we take him away from something he wants to do
Getting teeth- He has three molars coming in at the same time.
When he wants something he can't have
When he's hungry/tired
If he is having fun and the fun stops
When he wants more attention or is bored
Things that Make Cooper Smile and Laugh:
Cooper's sense of humor is starting to develop more. We have said it before and we will say it again. This kid is all boy! He is starting to laugh when he burps, farts or spits. We didn't teach that to him....promise! : ) It's hard not to laugh at him at this point because it's funny to see a baby laughing at that kind of stuff but it's probably time to teach him some manners!
Dad- No one can make Cooper laugh more than Mike. Cooper is turning into quite a daddy's boy.
Seeing mom or dad first thing in the morning
When the door bell rings
When we say, "Let's go outside"
When we chase him
When we do weird random unexpected things : )
